Douglas “Doug” Wilkerson, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, respected business leader, and United States Marine Corps veteran, passed away on January 18, 2026, at the age of 77, surrounded by his family. Born on June 6, 1948, in Lebanon, Kentucky, Doug lived a life marked by integrity, courage, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved.
Doug served his country with honor as a Marine, including proud service during the Vietnam War. The discipline, resilience, and strong sense of duty he developed during his military service shaped him into the steady, principled, and deeply loyal man admired by so many.
Before leaving for Vietnam, Doug’s life took a meaningful turn when he and Brenda met at Sullivan Business College. Even at the very beginning, their connection was undeniable. Through wartime distance, their bond grew stronger—sustained by letters, faith, and unwavering devotion. After Doug returned home, their love blossomed into a lifelong partnership that spanned 56 wonderful years of marriage, filled with laughter, respect, and enduring affection. Together, they built a home defined by warmth, support, and cherished memories.
Doug was a proud father of two—Todd and Jenny—and he found immense joy in supporting their lives, passions, and accomplishments. A true sports enthusiast, he loved cheering them on both on and off the field. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan and a devoted follower of University of Kentucky basketball, rooting for his teams with the same wholehearted loyalty he brought to every part of his life.
His joy grew even greater with the arrival of his four beloved grandchildren—Madison, Nicholas, Shelby, and Hillary—who affectionately called him “Pappy.” Doug treasured each moment with them, delighting in their personalities, accomplishments, and the happiness they brought into his life. Being “Pappy” was one of his greatest sources of pride and joy.
Professionally, Doug served as Vice President and Treasurer at Luckett & Farley, an architectural and construction management firm. His thoughtful judgment, calm leadership, and unwavering integrity earned him the respect of colleagues, clients, and peers throughout his career. He was a steady presence, a trusted mentor, and a valued leader whose influence will endure for years to come.
Beyond his work and achievements, Doug will be remembered for his warmth, sincerity, and generous spirit. He had a remarkable ability to truly listen, to extend kindness, and to make others feel valued and understood. His presence brought comfort, his humor brought light, and his character left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Clellen and Marie Wilkerson, and his brother, Bob Wilkerson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda; his children, Todd (wife, Melissa) and Jenny (husband, Erik); his grandchildren, Madison, Nicholas, Shelby, and Hillary; his sister, Diane VanCleave; along with extended family, friends, fellow veterans, and colleagues who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
