Douglas D. Sheckell, 86, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018, with his family by his side. The son of the late Albert and Hettie Atwood Sheckell, Douglas was born December 4, 1931 in Alton, Indiana. He retired from International Harvester in 1982 and was a long time member of the Highlander Pilgrim Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Briles Sheckell; daughter, Brenda Roberts; and 8 siblings.
Survivors include one son, Harold Sheckell (Vennie); daughters, Rita Byerley, Tammie Staser (Art), Pandora Lanham (David), and Deanna Woodruff (Eddie); brother, Amuel Sheckell; sister, Wanda Vetter; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 1 pm ~ 8 pm Thursday and after 10 am Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, IN. His Funeral Service will be 2 pm Friday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with private entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
