E. Reuben Seese

Born in Johnstown, PA on April 6, 1930, he was the son of the late E. Reuben and Sarah (Ripple) Seese.

In 1949, he married Betty and together they went on to have 5 children. They were married 74 years at the time of his death.

Reuben was transferred to Southern Indiana through his job at, the American Bureau of Shipping, and retired in 1995 after 37 years. He was a loving husband and father, who would do anything for his family, neighbors, church, and friends. Reuben’s biggest joy in life was helping people. He loved to help anybody that needed help; neighbors, friends, animals, or strangers. If you called him for assistance, he jumped at the chance to offer his help. Reuben has been a member of Graceland Baptist Church since 1970, and he loved volunteering in any way he could. In 1995, he started a ministry through Graceland, the Carpenters Helpers, who built wheelchair ramps for those in need. The ministry continues to this day.

Reuben loved to golf, and on 7/13/2009, he had a hole in one, on the 11th hole, at Wooded View Golf Course.

In 1971, Reuben had the honor of being commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel.

Reuben was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Brad Seese, an infant daughter Pamela, a brother John Seese and a sister Myrtle Crowder.

Reuben is survived by his loving wife, Betty Seese, children Kevin Seese (Tammy), Kim Tharp (Russell), Shelley Harlow (Roger); grandson, Scott, great grandson Greyson, his beloved cat Blaze, along with many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana with a funeral service to follow at 1:30 PM.

Reuben will be laid to rest in Abundant Life Memorial Gardens, 3600 Kamer Miller Road, New Albany, Indiana following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Carpenters Helpers at Graceland Baptist Church or Purrfect Friends for Adoption, Inc.
