E. Wayne Davis, 73, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. The son of the late Glenn and Celeste (Sodrel) Davis, Wayne was born September 29, 1944 in New Albany, Indiana. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was recently inducted into the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor. Wayne was also a member of the DAV, VFW, American Legion, Amvets, and was a very active and supportive member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He served as Vice President/President of Future Farmers of America (FFA) and was a 1962 graduate of New Albany High School. Wayne had worked at General Electric and Sodrel Truck Lines and enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, and his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda (Byrd) Davis; sons, Bradley Davis (Karen) and Brian Davis (Jennifer); grandchildren, Colton, Wesley, Shelby, Finn, Miles, and Tatem Davis; and a brother, Roy L. Davis.
Visitation will be 2 pm ~ 8 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service and Military Honors will be 11 am Friday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with private entombment to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
