Edward E. “Buddy” Melton, 72, passed away January 15, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late William Edward and June Smith Melton, Buddy was born July 24, 1948 in New Castle, Indiana. He was retired from Dana Corporation, worked at Hitachi, and was the longest part-time employee to ever work at IUS. He was an avid sports fan, especially the New York Yankees and NASCAR, and he had a love for old westerns, Gunsmoke being one of many of his favorites.
Buddy was happiest when he was with his family. Not only was he fun-loving and adventurous, but he was also a jokester. He kept everyone laughing with his hilarious antics, and never knowing what he might say next! Everyone has countless stories of Grandpa Bud to treasure forever, and his laugh, and all the laughter he provoked, will never be forgotten.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Troy Hickman; sisters, Phyllis Clark and Donna Poynter; and brothers, Rick and Bobby Melton.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Judy (Toschlog) Melton; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Tina Melton; daughter, Kristina Hickman; grandchildren, Jordan, Blake, and Trevor (Melinda) Melton, and Isaiah, Allison “Lucy”, and Analiese Hickman; brothers, Danny Melton (Rosie) and Mike Melton (Cookie); and sister, Teresa Brown.
Visitation will be held from 10 am ~ 2 pm Tuesday, January 19th at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service will be 2 pm Tuesday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with private burial following in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
