Elyce Ann (Keig) Ludwick

Born on February 3, 1954, in Midland, Michigan, Elyce lived a life marked by kindness, perseverance, devotion, and an unwavering love for her family. She made her home in the Louisville area, where she built a life centered around the people and things she loved most.

Family was the very center of Elyce’s world, especially her children, Maurice and Sarah, and her grandchildren, Aidan and Nathan. She devoted much of her life to making sure her children were cared for and supported, raising them as a single mother. She was incredibly proud of the people they became and treasured every moment spent with them.

Elyce wanted to be remembered simply as someone who tried hard, cared deeply, and always tried to be kind. She once described her life by saying, “I tried to live my life in a good way.” That simple statement captured so much of who she was. She worked hard, valued education, and always tried to put her family and others before herself. Born prematurely as a twin and facing challenges with her eyesight from an early age, Elyce persevered and continued to pursue the things that mattered to her.

Elyce had a gentle spirit and a genuine desire to treat people well. She was the kind of person who cared about others without needing recognition for it, giving of herself freely to the people she loved.

She found joy in the simple things. Elyce loved sewing and spending quiet evenings watching television, especially her favorite CSI shows. She was an avid sports fan and never wanted to miss a Louisville Cardinals or Baltimore Ravens game. Music also brought her happiness, particularly songs by John Denver.

And, of course, there was Ellie. Elyce adored her dog and treasured the companionship and unconditional love Ellie brought into her life.

Elyce is survived by her children, Maurice (Kate) Ludwick and Sarah (Lauren) Bishop; her grandchildren, Nathan (Ryann) Ludwick and Aidan Bishop; her great-grandchildren, Amelia and Margo; as well as her siblings, John (Diane) Keig, Diana Bradley, Debbie (Jim) Lomon, Robert (Julie) Keig, Nancy (Lee) Barr, and Mike (Cathy) Keig.

Elyce leaves behind a legacy of kindness, perseverance, selflessness, and love. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, a loving grandmother, a caring sister, and a woman who worked hard to give the people she loved a good life. She did what she could to leave the world a little better than she found it.

Though her absence will be deeply felt, her love will live on through her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

A reception of family and friends will take place 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Friday, September 18, 2026 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm Friday in the funeral home chapel.
