

FREDRIC N. HABERMEL, 72, of Louisville, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015. He was born in New Albany, Indiana, the son of Martha L. Habermel. He graduated from Western Kentucky University and soon after established scholarship foundations for students at Western needing financial help. He had a career in the paper industry and eventually developed his own box company, Quality Packaging, as well as a real estate company, Sundance, Inc. He loved skiing and hiking the Rocky Mountains and playing golf with his buddies. Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by brothers, Sonny, Jim, Dick, and Tom; and father-in-law, Dee Gibson.
He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Dru; mother-in-law, Betty Gibson; nephews, Brian Habermel (Jennifer) of Louisville and Kent Habermel (Gina) of Southport, Fla.; nieces, Noel Dawson (Mike) of Crestwood, Ky. and Holly Morris (Dan) of Western Springs, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Merrily Habermel of Clarksville, Ind., Sandy Habermel of Jupiter, Fla., and Reba Habermel of Clover, S.C.
Visitation will be 11:00 am – 2:00 pm Saturday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN. His Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel with cremation to follow. He will be interred in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, New Albany at a later date.
