GARY W. "SONNY" SAMS, Sr., 66, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. The son of the late Charles G. and Viola M. (Riley) Sams, Gary was born July 13, 1945 in New Albany. He retired from the City of New Albany Flood Control and was a member of the F&AM Lodge 480 in Georgetown, Indiana.
Survivors include his wife, Angie Sams; children, David Simmons, Tanya Cash, Gary Sams, Jr., Stormi Simmons and Joseph Simmons; brother, Melvin “Bud” Sams; sisters, Madeline Durbin and Irene Sams; grandchildren, Adrianna Osborn, Bailey Cash, Dakoda Cash, Chanz Cash and Lola Simmons; and his best friend, Clinton Sorrels.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm ~ 7:00 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN. A Masonic Funeral Service will be 7:00 pm Thursday in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel. Burial will be 10 am Friday at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lanesville IN.
