

Born on May 26, 1949, in Denver, Colorado, Geraldine lived a life defined by faith, service, education, and a deep love for her family.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Emil Theisen and Margaret "Bell" Theisen, whose love and guidance helped shape the remarkable woman she became.
For 52 years, Geraldine shared a loving marriage with her husband, Jerry Waits. Together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories. During Jerry's Army career, they traveled the world, embraced new cultures, and formed lifelong friendships.
A proud United States Army veteran, Geraldine served her country with honor. She also earned two bachelor's degrees, reflecting her lifelong love of learning and determination to keep growing.
Faith was at the heart of Geraldine's life. As a devoted Catholic, she lived her beliefs through kindness, compassion, and quiet service to others.
Geraldine is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Jerry Waits; her brother; her sister-in-law, Regena Waits-Zoumis; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and generations of great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.
She will be remembered for her strength, intelligence, adventurous spirit, unwavering faith, and generous heart. Her legacy of service, love, and compassion will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150, on July 10, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a funeral service to celebrate her life at 1:00 pm. Entombment will follow in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
