Gregory P. Balmer

GREGORY P. "GREG" BALMER, 59, died Monday January 19, 2015, surrounded by his family. Greg was born September 15, 1955 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Edward K. and Rosemary (Stiller) Balmer, Jr. He was the Sales Office Manager with APEX Trailer Service Company for twenty-five years, served as the Floyd County Coroner from 1988 until 2008, and was the Fire Chief for twelve years for the LaFayette Township Fire Department of which he was a member since 1979. Greg was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Rebecca Davis Balmer. Survivors include his stepson, Phillip Davis and his wife, Tina; siblings, Kevin Balmer, Retta Patty and her husband, J., Patrick Balmer and his wife, Laurie, and Luanne Smith and her husband, Greg; two grandchildren, Raegan and Rylee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, January 22nd, and after 8:00 am Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 23rd, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs, Indiana with cremation to follow.
