Ian Andrew Duguid passed away on the morning of June 26, 2025, leaving behind a world made brighter by his love, laughter, and unforgettable presence. Ian was a fun-loving, kind-hearted giant of a man—equal parts adventurer, protector, and soft-hearted companion—who was hopelessly devoted to his wife, Joy. Their 25+ years of marriage were filled with spontaneous road trips, belly laughs, shared dreams, and quiet moments that never needed words to feel full.
Ian was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Joyce (Forrester) Duguid, and his beloved sisters, Cookie and Sharon. He is survived by his brothers Gordon and James, and by a wide, loving family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends across the globe—all of whom carry stories of his loyalty, generosity, and irrepressible sense of humor.
To Ian, life was about connection—human and animal alike. He and Joy shared their home and hearts with two beloved rescue dogs, Macoose and Foster. His soft spot for the underdog (especially the four-legged kind) was just one of the many ways he lived his values out loud.
Ian’s final wish wasn’t complicated: he wanted those he loved to take a road trip, get lost somewhere beautiful, eat a great steak, sip an ice-cold beer, and laugh until your sides hurt. That’s how he lived, and that’s how he would want us to remember him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the New Albany Floyd County Animal Shelter, where Ian and Joy found their faithful companions and gave them a second chance at love. https://floydcountyanimals.org/index.php/support-us/online-donations
