James D. Turner

James D. Turner, 72 years of age, died Monday March 4th, 2019. He was born July 5, 1946 in Knott County Kentucky to the late Jess and Barbie (Couch) Turner. Jim was the manager of the Frisch’s in New Albany for some 15 years, the former owner and operator of the Country Place Restaurant in Galena for 15 years and lastly the Bradford Tavern in Bradford for 10 years until his retirement. He was the widower of Lorna Turner his wife of 15 years who died in 1998. Jim was a hard worker who loved traveling, his horse farm, playing euchre and most of all loved his family and two grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his family and many friends. Survivors include his daughter, Leslie A. Conley (Corey); two grandchildren, Tyler James, Caitlyn Isabelle Conley; siblings, Lonnie Turner, Lee Roy Turner (Billie), Johnnie Ray Turner (Brenda), May Oma Taylor, Betsy L. Turner; along with many nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance Reception will be 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm Saturday, March 9, 2019 with his Celebration of Life at 5:00 pm Saturday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. Private burial of his cremains will be with his wife in Galena Cemetery in Galena, Indiana. Expressions in remembrance to St. Jude Hospital or American Cancer Society.
