Jerry Thomas Carroll, 80, of Sellersburg, Indiana passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Jerry was born in Louisville, Kentucky on June 16, 1943 to the late Velma Witten. Jerry was a former Truck Driver for A & H Truck Lines and Nationwide Horse Carriers. He also was the former owner of three local taverns with the latest one being JC and the Boys but he was best known as the founder of Portland Recycling Inc. which was not only a business but a family of friends. Jerry was a member of the American Legion 28 and VFW Post 1693. He leaves with us a lifetime of stories, a magnetic personality and was loved by everyone that met him. Jerry was a driver and team owner of race cars for over 30 years. He also was an avid pinochle player, betting on the horses and playing craps at the casino. Jerry was a great man, wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather who will be missed by all.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Devin Eggers.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Carroll; children, Shannon Carroll (Brandie), Stacy Robinson (Tom), Laura Kittrell (Gary), Sonja Lefler (Billy) and Stephanie Varvel; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; one great great grandson, Greyson Thomas; drinkin' buddy Bob and numerous family members and friends.
Visitation for Jerry will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
