John "Jack" Ray Gavin

John "Jack" Ray Gavin, born on March 30, 1941, in Morgan County, Ohio to the late John and Elsie Thomas Gavin, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 84. Jack was a resident of Jeffersonville, Indiana and was a member of Eastside Christian Church. Jack was retired from DuPont Chemical Company with over 37 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Army. He spent countless hours volunteering at The Community Kitchen, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Kelley Gavin; twelve siblings, Charlotte Winstanley, Editha Gavin, Dorothy Houpt, Wayne Gavin, Willard Gavin, Donald Gavin, Audrey Hall, Walter Gavin, Sue Hall, Harold Gavin, Ethel Batman and Pat Knox.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Marilyn Gavin; children, John Gavin Jr. (Regina), Cathi Reed (Bill), Jenny Cook (Doug), Gregg Jackson (Trina), Karen Maxfield (Brent) and Amy Howell (Harry); thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren with a third on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, located at 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana, 47150, on October 29, 2025, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 2:00 pm with burial to follow in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park.
