

The son of the late Eugene “Ras” and Frances Sanders, Tom was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from Wagner High School and Western Kentucky University. He worked for many years at the Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, IN and then later at Sellersburg Lumber/PC Lumber where he retired. Tom was a member of St. Joe Hill Catholic Church in Sellersburg, IN.
Tom was the life of the party until he decided it was time to go to bed at which time he would politely tell everyone good night and retire to bed. He loved the Kentucky Wildcats and the Cincinnati Reds. Tom also loved boating and visiting Sarasota, Florida. He never met a pack of peanut butter crackers or a container of cottage cheese he didn’t love.
Tom met the love his life, Carol Kamer, at the Ammunition Plant and they went on to build a beautiful life together in Sellersburg, IN and later in Floyds Knobs, IN.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his daughter, Cristie (Ian); his sons, Scott Beyl (Maria) and Troy Beyl; several grandkids including Haley, Avery, Katie, Maddie, and Jack Beyl and Heidi Mitchell; sister-in-law, May Sanders; along with several wonderful friends. Tom was a proud “Papaw” who loved cheering on his grandkids at their sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Eugene “Gene” Sanders and Mary Hager Kuykendall (Paul).
Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
Tom’s funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, March 4, 2022 at St. Joe Hill Catholic Church, 2605 W St Joe Rd, Sellersburg, IN 47172 with burial to follow in St. Joe Hill Catholic Church Cemetery.
