John Douglas Sheets, 65, of Corydon, Indiana, passed away on October 6, 2026, in New Albany, Indiana. John was born on October 5, 1961, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, to the late Shelby D. Sheets and Dorothy Mae (Moffitt) Sheets. John was proud of being a lumber grader and loved the wood industry in general; he retired after 27 years of service at Robinson Lumber in New Albany, Indiana. He enjoyed being the jokester in his circle, spending time with his family, gardening, and living near the Harrison County Forest.
John is preceded in death by his parents; his loving son, Eric Douglas Sheets; his grandsons, Charles Peach and Bradley Thompson.
John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Cheryl (Clifford) Sheets; his children, Nellie West, Bo West (Pamela), and Virginia Peach; his grandchildren, Cody Girvin, Angela Record (Troy), Tenee' Kelly (Ben), Christina West (Tommy), Nicole West (Trenton), Steven West (Barbie), Anthony Baird (Tara), and John Baird; his 16 wonderful great-grandchildren; his brother, Mark Sheets (Vonnie); his sister, Michelle Sheets; and many extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at Kraft Funeral Service at 2:00 pm.
John will be laid to rest at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, Indiana.
