Obituary of Joseph W. Hanover
Joseph William Hanover, Sr., 76, of Temecula California, formerly of New Albany, Indiana, passed away May 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born on August 18, 1943 in New Albany, Indiana to the late William and Dorothy Hanover. He was a graduate of Georgetown High School in Georgetown, Indiana. He started his career at the Kinney Shoe Company in New Albany as a Shoe Salesman and advanced to Store Manager, District Manager and eventually Vice President of the Foot Locker Corporation. He received many awards and accolades throughout his 48 years of service. Joe loved to travel and he traveled the United States, Australia, and many other countries both for work and leisure. Joe was a member of the Temecula Elks Club. He volunteered his time doing various community projects with them. He attended Church regularly. He is survived by his loving wife, Doreen Hanover; children, Melissa Salayko (Robert), Joseph Hanover Jr. (Alison), and Jeffrey Hanover; grandchildren, Paige Salayko, Ashtyn Salayko, Joseph Hanover III, and Alex Edwards (Deanna); two sisters, Rebecca Resch and Mary Damon; as well as several nieces and nephews. Joseph treasured his family and friends. Joe loved to fish, travel, garden, and do volunteer work for the Elks. He was a kind, loving, and caring man who has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and he will be missed greatly by those he left behind. Visitation will be 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday and 10:00 am until 11:00 am Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. Funeral Services are 11:00 am Friday at the funeral home with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting expressions of sympathy in Joseph’s name to Hospice of the Valleys, 25240 Hancock Avenue, Suite 120, Murrieta, California 92562.
