Judie Rohleder Bates

Judie Bates, 77 years of age passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017. She was born August 27, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky and was a graduate of Loretto High School. Judie worked for Brown Forman, Vermont American, and The Louisville Tennis Club. She loved playing tennis, caring for family and friends pets, and was a die-hard University of Louisville fan especially basketball. Judie was very friendly and personable and was loved by everyone who met her. She especially loved her fury family, Nick, their beloved golden lab. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gervase and Haline “Pete” Rohleder. Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Jim Bates; children, James II (Jill) and Jesse (Margret); brother, Nick Rohleder (Betty); sisters-in-law, Nina Youngblood, Shirley Sheets; 7 grandchildren, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, 4 great nieces, 4 great nephews, and 2 great great nieces. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. Her Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Friday at the St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Paul Campus), 216 Schellers Avenue, Sellersburg, Indiana.
