

Kenneth Norbert Nicolas, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023 in New Albany, Indiana. He was born on August 17, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Norbert A. and Corinne E. (Hackel) Nicolas. Ken was deeply involved in his community and was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany, Indiana. Ken's active participation and long standing commitment to the church, including his invaluable service on the finance and festival committees over the years, exemplified his unwavering dedication to his faith and community.
He was also a member of the Rotary Club of New Albany for many years and had become a Paul Harris Fellow. Ken also went through Leadership Southern Indiana concerning leadership development for Southern Indiana. Ken worked as a CPA and was a member of McCauley, Nicolas & Co., CPA's until his retirement. After his retirement, Ken worked for Mountjoy, Chilton & Medley CPA's until April 15, 2022. who merged with McCauley, Nicolas & Co. CPA's. Ken was a dedicated CPA for over 50 years exhibiting exceptional skill and dedication in the field of accounting. His commitment to his profession and community made a lasting impact on those around him.
Ken is survived by Kerry (Riddle) Nicolas, his wife of 54 years, his four sons; Michael Nicolas (Chrisy), Brent Nicolas (Danielle McKinley), Christopher Nicolas (Stephanie), Stephen Nicolas (Ashley), his sister; Pat Zimmerman and his mother-in-law; Jean Myers. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Caley Nicolas Pollard (Gary), Cole Nicolas (Zoe Sifers), Zoe Nicolas, Grayson Nicolas, Paxton Nicolas, Jaxson Velez, Myles McKinley, Penelope Nicolas, Peyton Nicolas and great granddaughter, Hazel Pollard. Ken is also survived by several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Ken will be remembered for his kindness, integrity and willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ken was quick witted and always had a joke to tell! He was a dedicated IU fan & loved to cheer them on or scream when things weren't going well! Ken loved his family & loved doing things and spending time together. He will be sorely missed.
Ken's visitation will be at Kraft Funeral Service 2776 Charlestown Rd., New Albany, Indiana on December 21st at 4:00-8:00pm and December 22nd from 9:00am-11:00am. His funeral mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 415 E. Eighth St., New Albany, Indiana on December 22nd at 11:00 am with burial afterwards at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
