

KENNETH R. RAPP, 78 years of age, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. The son of the late Richard F. and Margarite (Ellis) Rapp, Kenneth was born July 12, 1931 in New Albany. He was a member of St. John United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. Kenny was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War. He retired from and was the owner of Kenny’s Food Mart for 28 years. He was a Mason and 53 year member of DePauw Lodge #338 F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murate Shrine Temple of Indianapolis, Tri County Shrine Club and Day Spring Emaus Community Walk #1.
Kenny was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He was a gentleman farmer who loved riding quarter horses and gardening on his farm. For many years, Kenny enjoyed houseboating on Lake Cumberland and traveling with friends and family. He was also an avid I.U. fan and loved sports. In fact, he was one of the original members of the Floyd County 4-H Club and coached Floyd County Baseball Little League and Basketball Mini League.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, Andrew, Edward and Richard Rapp; and sisters, Lois McKim and Betty Martel.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Nancy L. (Richards) Rapp; son, Timothy J. Rapp (Theresa) of Floyds Knobs IN;
daughter, Melissa Rapp Fischer (David) of St. Louis MO; grandsons, Laren J. Rapp of Floyds Knobs IN, Chase E. Rapp of Floyds Knobs IN and John B. Fischer of St. Louis MO; granddaughters, Kristen L. Fischer and Kara M. Fischer, both of St. Louis MO; step-granddaughters, Emily Stites (Nathan) of Richmond KY and Maggie Sprigler of Floyds Knobs IN; brother, Robert Rapp of Louisville KY; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany IN and after 9:30 am Monday, May 10, 2010 at St. John United Presbyterian Church in New Albany. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. His Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Monday at the church with entombment and military honors to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to St. John United Presbyterian Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
