Kevin Boyd VanTassell

KEVIN BOYD VAN TASSELL, 51, died Friday, November 27, 2015. The son of the late Boyd and Hazel Garrehy Van Tassell, Kevin was born July 7, 1964 in Johnson City, New York. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in the Embassy Guard during his service. Kevin was an officer and then sergeant with the Jefferson County Corrections from 1991-1999. From 1999-2015, he served as an officer for the LPD/LMPD. During that time, Kevin was a patrolman, detective, traffic officer, and retired as a district detective. He also served on the Dignitary Protection Team. Kevin was a member of the F.O.P. and First Assembly of God in New Albany.

Survivors include his former wife, Tracye Van Tassell; daughters, Katherine and Alexis Van Tassell; sisters, Debra Meek (Gary) and Katrina Shreder; best friend & marine brother, Sean Purser; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany and 10:00 am ~ 12:00 pm Wednesday at New Albany First, 2778 Charlestown Road, New Albany. His Funeral Service will be 12:00 pm Wednesday at the church with burial and military honors to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff, Kentucky.
