Leland A. Watson, age 92, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025. Leland was born in Laconia, Indiana on December 18, 1932 to the late Arlis G. Watson and Inez Bartley Watson. He was a retired Floyd County Sheriff serving from 1991-1999. He loved being Sheriff!! Leland enjoyed flying his own plane and flew the helicopter for the Sheriff's department. He loved motorcycles, and buying and driving old cars. Leland was also the owner of Watco, Inc from January 1979 to present.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Chastity Watson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Lesta Watson; three children, Kim Moser (Donald), Timothy Watson (Sherry) and Melissa Schultz (Tim); grandchildren, Jason Stone (Shannon), Ashley Cook (Matt), Amanda Jett (Shelby), Amber Watson and Caitlin Gatewood (D.J.); 18 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; a brother, Terry Lee Watson (Alice)
A celebration of life visitation for Leland will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
