

Lula M. Heeke, age 90, of Clarksville, IN, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, memories, and countless people who were blessed to know her.
Born on January 9, 1936, in New Albany, Indiana, Lula was the daughter of James F. Lynch and Cleo Lone Lynch Tierney. She graduated from New Albany High School. On January 9, 1953, she married Eugene R. Heeke, With whom she had two children; Sharry Gault and Paula Shrout.
Known to those who loved her as Mom, Mamaw, and Great Mamaw, Lula was born in New Albany, Indiana, in 1936. She had a fun-loving and joyful personality that could make just about anyone laugh. Lula had a way of making everyone around her feel cared for and welcomed. She always wanted to make sure everyone had exactly what they needed. If you wanted someone to talk to, Lula was always there. If you were hungry, she would make you something to eat. If you needed something to drink, she would tell you to take whatever you needed. Taking care of others was simply who she was.
Lula was an amazing cook and always took great pride in her home, which was always spotless. In her earlier years, she loved getting together with her sisters every Saturday night to play cards. She also loved supporting her grandchildren and was always there cheering them on at their sporting events. These were some of the many moments that made life so special to Lula and her family.
Lula was a loving mother, wife, Mamaw, Great Mamaw, and a wonderful friend. She was also well known for having the best-looking yard in the neighborhood. She took great pride in her flowers and spent countless hours working in her yard, making it beautiful.
Some of Lula’s favorite things included working in her yard and planting flowers, shopping with her daughters and granddaughter, and playing Bunco. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching her soap operas, golf and cheering on the Indiana Fever. Above all, Lula treasured the time she spent with her family and the people she loved.
Lula is survived by her daughter, Paula (Marvin) Shrout; her grandchildren, Troy Colvin, Tyler Shrout, and Taylor Shrout; and her great-grandchildren, Blake Colvin and Savannah Colvin, along with a sweet baby boy on the way, whom she was eagerly awaiting to meet.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene; her daughter, Sharry Diane Gault; her parents, James F. Lynch and Cleo Lone Lynch Tierney and her siblings, Marilyn Skinner, Margaret Lockwood, Andrew James Lynch, Pearl Brown, Betty Windell, and Alpha Herman.
Lula will be remembered for being an amazing and loving wife, Mom, Mamaw, and Great Mamaw. She will be remembered for always being there when someone needed her, for her loving heart, her infectious laugh, her generous spirit, and the way she made everyone around her feel cared for. Lula had a special way of making a house feel like home and making the people she loved feel like they always had a place there. She gave so much love throughout her life, and that love will continue to live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
Lula will be greatly missed, but her spirit, her laughter, and the beautiful memories she gave us will remain in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150, on October 6, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150, on October 7, 2026, at 10:00 am.
Final resting place will be at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany.
