

Born in New Albany, Indiana on January 8th, 1945 to the late Catherine (Goodman) and Louis Hancock, the sixth child out of what would be eight. She graduated from Providence High School in 1963, where she and a group of friends formed a bunco group which is still active to this day. Madonna loved to play tennis, visit the beach, spend time with family and friends, and was an avid U of L basketball fan. She enjoyed being a homemaker and hostess for countless family holidays and special events and also served as the Administrative Assistant for the Plainview Residents Association for over twenty years. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Community in Louisville, KY. Madonna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, godmother, friend and support person for anyone who needed it.
Madonna is survived by her loving husband of almost 58 years, Thomas Richard Burke. They met each other in the eighth grade and were high school sweethearts. She is also survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Burke) Miller, son-in-law Mark Miller, and granddaughter Catherine Miller; brothers, Eddie Hancock, Nick Hancock and Glenn Hancock (Linda) and sister Joy Sprigler. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Louis Hancock, Charles Hancock and Mary Caufield. Madonna is also survived by an innumerable number of family and friends, all of whom will miss her cooking, get togethers, and steadfast love.
Visitation will be Monday, May 4th from 2-8 pm at Kraft Funeral Home 708 E Spring St. New Albany, IN. Funeral mass will be at 11 am on Tuesday, May 5th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1752 Scheller Lane New Albany, IN with burial to follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in New Albany, IN.
