

MARGARET SCHMIDT MANN, 89 years of age, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Providence Retirement Home in New Albany, Indiana. Margaret was born July 25, 1920 in Navilleton, Indiana to the late John W. and Bertha Kiesler Schmidt. She was the widow of Ronald L. Mann and following his death in 1995 she spent much of her time visiting nursing home residents in the New Albany area. She was a former member of the old Holy Trinity Church and longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of New Albany. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society. Margaret attended mass daily and was seen many mornings at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Holy Family Catholic Churches and she attended many functions at all the area parishes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Raymond Schmidt and Virgil Schmidt; and sister, Catherine Baumann.
Survivors include her children, Margaret J. Beck Speaker of New Albany IN, Robert L. Mann (Suzanne) of New Albany IN,
Ronald W. Mann (Patricia O.) of Floyds Knobs IN, and Mark A. Mann of New Albany IN; grandchildren, Donna Wimbec (Jeff), Brian Beck (Teresa), Gary Mann (Teresa), Bobby Mann, Robyn Yeker (Jason), Lisa Wilcox, Dawn Wright (Richard), Michelle McDowell (David), Andrea Mann and Cameron Mann; great grandchildren, Jessie, Emily, Jason, Jamie,Steven, Jennifer, Heather, Garren, Ivy, Colton, Brandon, Bryce, Brett, Dalton, Victoria, Rachel and Derick; sisters, Bernice Banet (Odell) and Dorothy Gettlefinger (Raymond); brother-in-law, Alvin “Red” Baumann; and sister-in-law, Mary Schmidt.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 25th and after 8:00 am Monday, April 26th at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. A prayer service will be held 2:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Her Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 am Monday, April 26th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of New Albany with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Navilleton Cemetery.
