Marilyn Jean Koehler Budd

Marilyn Jean Koehler Budd, 90, passed away November 9, 2017 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of New Albany, Indiana where, at an early age, with tremendous musical influence from her mother, she began playing the piano. Formal piano instruction, at the age of 12, started at the University of Louisville’s School of Music. She wanted this obituary to particularly mention Professor Graves and, Dean Anderson at U of L. After graduating from New Albany High School she continued her piano studies at Ward Belmont Junior College in Nashville, TN. From there she enrolled at the Indiana University School of Music, Bloomington campus, majoring in Concert Piano. While at IU, she was a member of the IU Choir. She was a longtime member, and past president, of Psi Iota Xi Philanthropic Sorority. A life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church, she used those piano talents by becoming the accompanist for the Jr/Sr. Choir. She especially enjoyed playing at the sunrise Easter Services. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chet Budd Jr in 1994; parents, David C. and Mary Koehler; brothers, David K. and Richard Kent Koehler; daughter-in-law Jan Budd. Survivors include her children, Chet Budd III of Elizabeth, IN, Barbara Budd Enneking (Dan) of Centerville, OH and Naples, FL, David C. Budd of Sellersburg; grandchildren, Valerie Temple (Israel), Craig Budd (Ashley), Louis Sonne, Susan Sonne, David C. Budd Jr.; great grandchildren, Vivian, Issabelle and Scarlett Temple, Jaxson, Kaden and Graysen Budd. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church at noon, on December 16th with a reception to follow at the church.
