Martha Lee Watkins Black

MARTHA LEE WATKINS BLACK, 94, died Sunday, September 14, 2014. She was born August 23, 1920 in Edwardsville, Indiana to the late Clarence and Viva Shirley Watkins. Over the years, Martha had worked at Indiana Bell Telephone Co., Stewart’s Dry Goods, the White House and M. Fine Shirt Factory. She retired from St. Jude’s Foundation in New Albany and was a life-long member of Tunnel Hill Christian Church in Edwardsville, Indiana. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William N. Black; and brother, Cecil Watkins.

Survivors include her son, Timothy C. Black (Judith); daughter, Marsha A. Black; grandchildren, Elizabeth “Cherie” Black and Kathryn Flores (Steven); great grandchildren, Sarah Marie and Evan Daniel Flores; step grandchildren, Ben and Dawn Erdman; sister-in-law, Jane Watkins; and nephew, Steve Watkins.

Visitation will be 2:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany. Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Thursday at Tunnel Hill Christian Church with burial to follow in Edwardsville Cemetery.
