

Marty graduated from Benton High School in Benton, Illinois. He went on to attend Spartan Aviation Technical School and Olivet Nazarene University, where he earned a degree in business.
Marty was a devoted member of Christ Community Church of the Nazarene. He retired from UPS in 2019 after 29 years of service. Marty had a passion for aviation- he loved working on and flying airplanes and enjoyed every aspect of aviation, including earning his private pilot license. He was known for his love of helping others and was a true master craftsman. Family was always his top priority, especially his three grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling and camping and was always ready for a good meal- especially if it included pie.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Eugene Shockley and Norma Ruth Martin Shockley; his aunt, Janice Wheatley; his uncle, Jack Shockley; and his sister-in-law, Patti Higdon.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Terri Bruce Shockley; his sons, Aaron Shockley and Nathaniel Shockley (Katie); his grandchildren, Maverick Shockley, Jett Shockley, and Margaret Shockley; and his siblings, Patricia Shockley, Pamela Baxley, and Michael Shockley (Lesa). He is also survived by his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Raymond Bruce III (Julie), Susan Moore (Dane), and Donnie Higdon; his aunt, Dee Hanon; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Nicole Baxley, Amanda Baxley, Brittany Browder (Dale), Megan Higdon, Barrett Moore (Brandi), Daniel Bruce (Ashley), and Jordan Bruce (Kala). He is further survived by his great-nieces, Penelope, Harper, Isla, Willow, and Ami; his great-nephews, Teddy and Everett; and his great-great-nephew, Waylon.
Visitation will be held on December 30 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Kraft Funeral Home, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana 47150. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m.
