Mary L. Huckelberry, 96 years of age died Tuesday, October 18, 2016. She was born February 2, 1920 in Henry County, Kentucky to the late Joe D. and Ethel (Eddins) McDowell, Sr. Mary retired from the Courier-Journal, was a Gold Star Mom, a 1937 graduate of the old Louisville Girls High School, member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #204 in Sellersburg, Eastside Christian Church in Jeffersonville, and past member of Henryville Presbyterian Church and the Kentuckiana Square Dancers Association. She was preceded in death husband, Carl B. Huckelberry; son, H. David Huckelberry; brother, William L. McDowell; sister, Beulah P. Young.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Neal (Doug); brother, Joe D. McDowell, Jr. granddaughters, Carla S. White (John), Paula J. Glover; great grandchildren, Zachary, Austin, and Allyssa.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. A private graveside service will take place Friday morning at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
