

Mary dedicated more than 39 years of her life as a telephone operator, where she was known for her kindness, professionalism, and unwavering work ethic. She retired after a long and faithful career, leaving behind many cherished friendships and a legacy of dedication.
She found joy in the simple blessings of life. Mary loved bird watching, tending to and admiring flowers, cooking delicious meals for those she loved, and decorating her home with warmth and beauty. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her family, creating lasting memories with each generation.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Mary loved God deeply and was a devoted member of Restoration Christian Church in Sellersburg. She cherished her church family and found great comfort, fellowship, and purpose in her faith.
Mary will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother. Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and unconditional love for her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ballard Tate; and a sister, Eileen Fawcett.
Mary is survived by two children, Mark Tate (Anita) and Jacquelyn Tate Earl (Tom); grandchildren, Michael Earl (Kayla), Lindsey Rapp (Chase), Kaitlyn Ragains (Jacob) and Hannah Keinath (Noah); one great grandson, Jonathan Earl and a great granddaughter on the way. Mary is also survived by siblings, John Schroeder (Carol), Korleen Eger (Larry), Dicky Tool (Carol), Rose Lea Miller and Barbara Thornton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Interim Hospice.
Though her presence will be greatly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord. Her legacy of faith, love, kindness, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
