I went to Junior High and High School with Mike. We were in hand bells together when I was in the 7th grade and he was in the 8th. I remember he was grounded I believe the summer between his 8th & 9th grade school year and wasn't allowed to talk to anyone. No phone, no computer, nothing. His only form of communication was by mail. lol He said he sent letters out to all his friends, me included, and I was the only one that wrote back and forth to him that summer. He was a great guy. He will be greatly missed.

I met Mike when I started freshman year of highschool. We played handbells together and were in technical theatre together. Even though he was a senior, he adopted me as his little sister that first week, and took care of me. He taught me lighting in theatre, let me tag along with him to anything I wanted, I got to see him graduate highschool and celebrate with him after, he was there for my daughter’s birth, he was the first person I talked to and who was there for me when my dad died, he was always just a call away, and was more than happy to turn off his phone and spend a day or a few with me at the drop of a hat. We could talk about anything and everything together. He taught me what I should expect from a good friend and a good man. I hope my daughter is able to have her own ‘Mike’ one day. This is a picture of Mike and a couple other friends in the waiting room, waiting for my daughter to be born, and one of me and him my freshman year of highschool.
