

Ramona Joyce Thompson, 69 years of age died Saturday, March 10th 2012 at her residence in Greenville, Indiana. She was born January 1st 1943 in Scottsburg, Indiana and raised in Hibernia, Indiana by the late Garland and Mary Raney. She was a graduate of New Washington High School in 1960. Ramona was a retired supervisor at the United States Census Bureau in Jeffersonville and currently along with her husband were the owners and operators of Bill’s Pawn and Jewelry in Louisville, Kentucky for the past 32 years. She was the president of the Kentucky Pawn Brokers Association for the past 20 years and a board member of the National Pawn Brokers Association. Ramona was a member of the National Federation of Independent Businesses and was the leader of Troop #776 of the Girl Scouts of America. She and her family also ran the Indian Fry Bread booth for over 30 years at the Harvest Homecoming Festival and other festivals across the Midwest.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, William Thompson; children, Joseph G. Prestigiacomo (Mary Ann), Pamela Pendleton, Kelli Neafus (Billy), Ramona Prestigiacomo; brothers, Leon Raney, Wendell Raney (Pat), Terry Raney (Janice); grandchildren, SPC Tyler Neafus, John Neafus, McKinsey Neafus, Kelly Neafus, Kaitlin Prestigiacomo, Alex Prestigiacomo, Burke Pendleton, Joe Prestigiacomo, Justin Prestigiacomo; great grandchildren, Hayden Neafus and Taylynn Wilson.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am ~ 8:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. Her funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany, Indiana with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington, Indiana.
The family would like to thank the staff at Norton Hospital, James Graham Brown Cancer Center, Hosparus of Southern Indiana, and all the family and friends for their prayers and care during this difficult time.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Hosparus of Southern Indiana, or the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
