

Richard Allen Benich, 71, died Saturday, November 9, 2013 surrounded by his family at Floyd Memorial Hospital. He was born June 29, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio to his late parents, Joseph Paul and Irene (Ostrowski) Benich. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany, a member of the Jeffersonville Elks, and NRA. With God and his values as his guide, he raised 5 beautiful children with his beloved wife of 48 years, she was his “Queen”. As an American patriot, he enlisted in the Army and served in the Special Forces as a Green Beret. A fun-loving Grandfather, known as “Papa Rich” to his 12 grandchildren, he taught them to live life fully. He was a legend with a personality larger than life and will be greatly missed.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany, Indiana with military honors following. Private enurnment will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park
