Richard (Rick) Thomas Brown, Jr., 75 years of age passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021. He was born July 13, 1946 in New Albany to the late Richard Thomas Brown Sr. and Leota Jane Atkins Brown and lived in or around the New Albany/ Clarksville area most of his life. He attended Clarksville High School where he was on the gymnastics team and graduated in 1965. Rick had several jobs over the years managing restaurants, opening a General Store in New Amsterdam, IN, several bowling alleys, and storage units, but one of his favorite jobs was driving a semi-tractor trailer with his wife Diana. They traveled together as a team all over the United States, delivering much needed pharmaceuticals for six years with Fed-Ex. During those travel years, they were able to experience much of the United States, visiting interesting towns and cities and witnessing the many beautiful sights that America boasts. For the past thirteen years, he helped Diana manage Jefferson Mobile Home Park in Jeffersonville.
Rick was a whiz with flowers, landscaping, Koi ponds, decks and fountains. In his retirement years, he always enjoyed getting together with buddies for breakfast or coffee and bowling when he was able. Rick was an avid bowler and bowled several 300 games during his lifetime. While he could be curmudgeonly at times, he showed concern with people he loved. He would call his step-daughter and son-in-law to see how the kids were doing in school, how the family weathered the hurricane, and recently would call and check on how his son-in-law was recovering from surgery. Rick had a soft spot for animals and for anyone who was going through illness. During the last days of his earthly life he chose Jesus!
Rick recently lost his wife, Diana of 19 years on March 27, 2021. He is also preceded in death by his Mother, Leota Jane Atkins Brown, his Father, Richard Thomas Brown Sr., and a Sister, Marjorie McVay.
