Robert Ash, a beloved and humorous man, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August 22, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Guy and Pauline Ash. Robert was a resident of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
To know Robert was to love him. He could brighten your day with his charm and quick wit. He loved to count his pop tabs while watching Walker Texas Ranger. He always wanted to go on vacation with his V.O.A. family! Some of his favorite places were Gatlinburg, Nashville, and Memphis. He really enjoyed bowling and going to Cracker Barrel and Texas Roadhouse. Robert had a memory for remembering everyone's birthday! He'd be sure to ask you, "If you believed him, right?" when he'd tell you someone's birthday. He loved Thanksgiving and Christmas, and already had both meals planned out. He never missed an opportunity to argue playfully with you and loved to tell you, "to hell with the rules"!
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and his sister.
Robert will be deeply missed and is survived by his nieces and nephews, his long-term friends, Charlie Stevenson, Roxanne Moore, Katie Wallace, and all the friends he's made over the many years at New Hope, Rauch, and ResCare. Robert was family to, according to Robert, "The best manager we got", Kelly Atkinson, Audra Upshaw, and Krissy McInnis, along with all the staff whose lives he truly touched. He was truly loved by so many and made such a huge impact on everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, located at 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana, 47150, on October 13, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A second visitation will take place on October 14, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the same location.
The funeral service will be conducted at Kraft Funeral Service on October 14, 2025, starting at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service.
Robert will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
