Robert "Rob" Russell Gnerlich
December 18, 1947 – May 7, 2019

Robert Russell “Rob” Gnerlich, 71 years of age passed on May 7, 2019. He was born on December 18, 1947 in Englewood, New Jersey to the late Charles and Dorothy (Crowell) Gnerlich. Rob was a veteran of the United States Navy. He helped establish the Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Rob received his Master of Engineering degree from the J.B. Speed School of Engineering at University of Louisville. He was a member of Theta Tau Fraternity and retired after 38 years as an engineer with ASRC\Michelin in Louisville. Rob also coached baseball and was a Cub Scout Leader.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Irene Gnerlich; son, Josh Gnerlich; daughter, Robin Baskette(Mike); grandson, Wes Baskette, Jack Baskette; brother, Charlie Gnerlich(Julie); brother-in-law, Bob Costilow(Sallie); niece, Cheryl Gnerlich; nephew, Jeff Gnerlich(Jen).
A reception of family and friends will be 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. A Sharing of Memories will begin at 4:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
