Robert "Bob" J. Koetter Sr.

ROBERT J. "BOB" KOETTER, SR.,79, died peacefully at Providence Retirement Home on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Lucille A. (Klein) and Edward Koetter, Sr., Bob was born August 7, 1932 in Lenexa, Kansas. Bob and his wife, Gladys, who died in 2008, founded Koetter Construction Company in 1954 where he served as President and CEO for many years. Bob was a former member of the Floyd County Planning & Zoning Commission and was on the Advisory Council for Atlantic Building Systems and the President’s Advisory Council of CECO Building Systems. He was instrumental in the construction and development of many commercial properties in southern Indiana. Bob was a member of the Salvation Army, past president of the Floyds Knobs Community Club, Director Emeritus of Community Bank, and was very involved with and supportive of all aspects of Providence High School. He was an active member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church where he undertook many leadership roles. In addition to playing cards, going to dances with Gladys, watching and supporting his grandchildren at sporting events, Bob thoroughly enjoyed his hobby of farming, raising cattle, auto racing, and his John Deere tractor. Above all, Bob Koetter was a gentleman who lived to serve God, his family, and the less fortunate. Survivors include his sons, Phil R. Koetter (Marcia), Jack L. Koetter (Melanie), Kenny E. Koetter (Victoria), Bob Koetter, Jr. (Kelly) and Wayne F. Koetter (Cheryl); grandchildren, Evan, Mitchell, Benjamin, Brage, Jack, Aimia Deon Koetter Carr (Adam), Hayley, Courtney Koetter Manos (Sam), Alexandra (Justin Paul, Fiance), Nicholas, Nelson Koetter and Spencer Hoffman; great grandchildren, Preston Carr and Isabella Manos; brother, Thomas Koetter (Mary Francis); numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Edward and Lucille, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jean Smith, and brothers, Bill and Edward Koetter, Jr. The Koetter family would like to express our gratitude to our father’s special caregiver, Joyce Brown, and the entire staff of Providence Retirement Home. There are not enough words to express our gratitude for the loving care our father received. Visitation will be 5:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Thursday and 2:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Friday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm Friday in the church. His Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
