Roger William Ehalt; age 87, passed away on May 12, 2024. He was born on December 30, 1936, to the late Elmer and Virginia (Wilson) Ehalt. Roger was a graduate of New Albany High School, class of 1955. He owned and operated Star Cleaners in New Albany, Indiana, until his retirement in 2001. Roger was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany, Indiana.
Upon retirement, Roger enjoyed his “seasonal” home at Coachlight Manor in Ft. Myers, Florida. In his spare time, he also loved to play cards while at his summer home. He was dedicated to organizing frequent Euchre tournaments and social gatherings.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, and two granddaughters, Lexi Summers and Maegan Ehalt.
Roger is survived by children, Terri Summers, of New Albany, Indiana, Steve Ehalt (Sheila) of Lanesville, Indiana, Phil Ehalt of New Albany, Indiana and Beth Burks (Doug) of Lebanon Junction, Kentucky, and Tim Hendrickson of Clarksville, Indiana, and Tom Hendrickson of New Albany, Indiana; three siblings, Ruth Anne Banta of Dallas, Texas, Ginny Hauswald (Tom) of Corydon, Indiana, and Beth Bostock (Kent) of Corydon, Indiana; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. On Friday, May 24, 2024, a visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany, Indiana.
Following Mass, an entombment will be held in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
In memory of Roger, donations are suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Shriners Hospital for Children.
