

Roy Charles Kruer, age 90, died peacefully in his sleep, early Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025, in Clarksville, Indiana. He was born August 20, 1935 in New Albany, Indiana to Joseph P. and Eleanor Roberts Kruer. He is preceded in death by his parents and six of his seven siblings: William, Wilfred, Robert (Sylvia), Ronald (Judy),and Mary Jane Kruer and Betty Koetter, as well as his son Wayne and son-in-law Roger Harbeson and sister-in-law Brenda Kruer. Roy is survived by his wife of 67 years Kathleen Beach Kruer; his brother Jerry; his children Karen Kruer Harbeson, Brian (Jenny); his five grandchildren, Audrey Harbeson (Kevin) Andres, Patrick (Jessica) Harbeson, David (Abbi) Harbeson, Ariana Kruer, and Bryce Kruer; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Roy grew up on a large farm near St Joe Hill and was a member of St Joe Hill Parish. After marrying Kathleen and moving into the house they built together outside of Greenville, Indiana, he became a parishioner of St Michael Catholic Church in Bradford.
Roy served for nine years in the Indiana National Guard. Afterwards, when not working at the Louisville Ford Assembly Plant as an inspector, Roy spent time outside farming or working on his equipment.
After 33 years of service, Roy retired from Ford. He spent the next ten years driving a school bus for the New Albany - Floyd County Schools.
When he wasn’t working, Roy loved taking Sunday drives, listening to country music, riding his motorcycle, listening to Kathleen play the organ, sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch, and spending time with his family and friends.
Visitation will be 3 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday, December 10, at Kraft Funeral Home, 708 E Spring St, New Albany, IN, with a rosary service at 7:30 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 11 am, Thursday, December 11, at St Michael Catholic Church, 11400 Farmer’s Lane, Greenville, IN 47124, with burial in the church cemetery afterwards.
