Samuel Carmi Lockhart, 78, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Samuel was born in Junction City, Kentucky on January 14, 1945 to the late Amos and Daisy Belcher Lockhart. He was a graduate of New Albany High School Class of 1963. Sam was a decorated Naval Vietnam Veteran. He was a successful entrepreneur who founded United Dynamics Inc. in Southern Indiana in 1989.
If you were looking for Sam over the years, he could be found at any of his grandchildren's sporting events. Often running from one venue to the next, always making a priority to be there. If you saw him at one of the events you would notice, he was often watching one game in person and following another grandchild on his phone or tablet simultaneously.
In his spare time, he was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, enjoyed fishing, golf and coaching youth sports over the years. His true joy above all else was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and their friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his older brother, Carlin "Buddy" Lockhart; and a brother-in-law, Don Camm.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Dalton) of 50 years; three children, Kimberly Minzenberger (Eric), Phillip (Jaime) and Patrick; six grandchildren or as he calls them, his "Doodest boys n girls", Logan, Aidan and Colin Minzenberger, Samuel and Breleigh Lockhart and Lennon Lockhart; siblings, Susie Camm, Leland Lockhart (Vonda), Nelson Lockhart (Caren), Gloria Suttle (Mike), Phyllis Rhodes (Paul), Kathy Lockhart, Debbie TerVree (Bob); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Sam will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150.
