Sharon Taliaferro Schaftlein, age 74, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 19, 1951 to the late Henry and Dorothy (Lang) Taliaferro. Sharon was a longtime member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church of New Albany. Sharon had worked at Mount Saint Francis and retired from Floyds Knobs Elementary School. She proudly received the Trinity High School Peace Medal in 2006 for her outstanding work within the retreat programs. Sharon loved to sew and crochet, always giving her finished product to loved ones.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Micah; sisters, Mary Ellen Taliaferro and Cynthia Woodward; brother in law, Steven Woodward; and her sister in law, Carla Taliaferro.
Sharon is survived by her loving daughters, Hannah (Gus) Bezy and Rachel Schaftlein; grandchildren, Isabelle "Val", Gabrielle "Mars", Arrielle, and Alyvia; brothers, Morris "Pete" Vernon Taliaferro and Kevin Taliaferro; sister, Sandra "LouAnn" (Dan) Thieneman; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Sharon wished to be cremated and her ashes will be laid to rest at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, Indiana.
