Stephen Craig Schmidt

Stephen Craig Schmidt, 58 years of age passed away March 3, 2022 at his home in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born February 6, 1964 in Clark County, IN to the late Herbert and Mary Lois Schmidt. Steve was a retired HVAC Technician for the Jefferson County Public Schools. During his illness, Steve became an avid bird watcher and feeder. He also came to believe that Amazon Prime was the greatest invention of the last several decades.

He is survived by his wife Mary Beth (Eakle) Schmidt, sons, Joseph and Adam Schmidt, brothers, Michael Schmidt (Toni), and David Schmidt. Steve loved his nieces and nephews dearly. Emily, Patrick, Sarah (Luke), Peyton, Maria, Manny and Hannah surrounded Steve with compassion and love. Each call and visit during his illness breathed new life into Steve. Steve’s cousins provided a constant reminder to embrace the love of family in both past and present generations. Steve worked within a shop of men that kept him connected by lunches, visits, calls and texts. The dignity and compassion shown to Steve by these men, as well as all his longtime friends, will never be forgotten. Finally, Steve is survived by our loving canine brood, including Jack, Jake, Jessie Peanut, Maci, Ada and Benjamin Button.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, March 11, 2022 at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 am Saturday, March 12, 2022 in the Kraft Funeral Chapel with private entombment to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
