

Stuart Earl Stiller passed away on July 15, 2026, at Springhurst Nursing Home in Greenfield, Indiana. He was born on December 16, 1945, to Charlotte Ruff Stiller and Colton M. Stiller in New Albany, Indiana. He was the grandson of Herbert Ruff and Vivian Herthel Ruff of Palmyra, Indiana, and Edward Stiller and Irene Sprigler Stiller of Floyd Knobs, Indiana.
Stu attended Providence High School in New Albany and graduated in 1963. He attended the University of Cincinnati, graduating in Interior Design in 1968. He was an active member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. Stu served in the Army National Guard at Ft Knox, Ky, from 1968-1974 and was a Rifle Range Instructor.
He worked as an Interior Designer at O'Connor & Raque from 1968 to 1974. He founded his own company, Stiller Designs & Associates, in 1976. His clients included Whayne Supply Co., Kimball International, and Reynolds Metals. He branched out into fabric design for various furniture manufacturers and fabric mills, both domestically and internationally. In 1987, he became a Fabric Designer for Mayer Fabrics in Indianapolis, Indiana, and joined them full-time as Head Fabric Designer in 1999. He retired from Mayer Fabrics in 2018.
Stu was a charter member of IBD, which became the International Interior Design Association (IDA). He served on both the regional and national boards. He was also an active member of the Color Marketing Group, serving on national committees to establish color trends for all industries.
Stu loved art, painting, gardening, fishing, and traveling. He renovated a 100-year-old Victorian home on 3rd St in Old Louisville, which won a Preservation Alliance Award.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Colton and Charlotte Stiller, his grandparents Herbert and Vivian Ruff and Edward and Irene Stiller, aunts and uncles Carolyn Wolford, Carmen Flick, Jim Flick, Earl Stiller, Lucille Stiller Gosney (Lev), and Helen Stiller. He is survived by cousins Jan Flick Gwynn (Mark), Lindsay Gwynn, Luke Gwynn, Mark Gosney (Billie), Sean Gosney (Erin), Erin Gosney Struemph (Matt), Mary Gosney Wilson (Jeff), Emily Wilson Nowell (Wes), and Kate Wilson Smith (Tyler).
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Home, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana, on Monday, July 20, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am, with a graveside service to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
