Sylvester Williams

Sylvester proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Army as a Combat Medic, where he earned his LPN. After his military service, he continued his education, becoming a Registered Nurse (RN) and later earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). He retired from the VA Hospital after many years of dedicated service to veterans. Never one to stop learning, Sylvester went on to achieve his Master’s degree and became a Family Nurse Practitioner. He specialized in Interventional Radiology at the University of Louisville and also served as a provider with Norton and Baptist Urgent Care.

Following his extensive medical career, Sylvester fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming a Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff in Louisville-a role he considered the highlight of his many accomplishments.

Sylvester was a faithful member of Hill City Church in Floyds Knobs and had a deep love for the Lord. Known as a true “jack of all trades,” he could build, repair, or create just about anything- from home renovations to restoring classic BMWs. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, and was the undisputed grill master in every season.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Williams; children Faith Lewis (Trey), Sheldon Williams (Carolina), Miriam Washington (Ralph), and Jasmine Williams; stepson Christopher Klein (Ashley); siblings Rufus Williams Jr. (Jocelyn), Lynetta Nolan (Ben), and Pam Williams; and his cherished grandchildren Alayna Lewis, Frank Klein, Ralph Washington Jr., Amelia Williams, Eli Williams, Milo Williams, and Zoey Washington. He is also survived by a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Williams Sr. and Louvenia Williams.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Kraft Funeral Home, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m.

Burial will take place on Wednesday, November 19th, at 9:30 a.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central (2501 N Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 40160).
