Thomas Allen "Tom" Wohlfeld, 82, New Albany, IN passed away on Sunday, September 18 at Masonic Homes of Louisville. He was born in Union City and then moved to New Albany at age 9. He graduated from New Albany High School, where he began a lifelong interest in the Theatre.
Tom was a storyteller at heart, with tales from history and family flowing freely whenever he was around. He was a lifetime friend to many, and a loving person to his daughters, and grandchildren. Tom was a huge fan of the Indianapolis 500, and shared that enthusiasm with everyone. Music, books, and movies became his pastimes, but his interest in learning new things made him a unique man.
His work career was spent in sales and advertising, but his real passion in life began when he retired. He found the art of jewelry making, attended a master' summer programs at Miami of Ohio, and became a juried member of the Louisville Artisans Guild. Tom continued to grow his art, teaching himself and spreading his love for the craft to others teaching. He presented at art fairs around southern Indiana, as “Tomas Originals”.
His daughters, Laura Wohlfeld Cassady, and Kathy Wohlfeld Peters, along with his grandchildren Bethany and Curtis Peters will miss him tremendously, but know he is at home now with his parents Mary and Gerald Wohlfeld, and his brother Tim. He was formerly married to Lynn Stone Schroader, the mother of his children, and Suzanne Wohlfeld.
The family is very grateful to the employees of Masonic Homes Kentucky, The Sam Swope Care Center, Therapy, and the Judy House for the loving, personal care our Dad/Grandpa received. We could rest easier knowing he was in your care.
Visitation with the family will be at Kraft funeral home, on Charleston Road, in New Albany, Indiana, on September 29, between 4:00 & 7:00 PM, with Celebration of Life starting at 7:00 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kraftfs.com for the Wohlfeld family.
