Thomas Lee Thornton, 72 years of age died Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born December 25, 1943 in Hazelhurst, Mississippi to the late Benny and Mattie Thornton. Thomas was a Lieutenant Colonel in United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War and was a member of Graceland Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Tonya Thornton; children, Teresa Murphy (Travis), Janet Thornton, Kelsey Thornton, Matthew Thornton, Madison Thornton; two brothers, one sister, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His funeral service will be 12:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with burial and military honors to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff, Kentucky.
