Obituary of Troy Hickman
Born August 29, 1969, in New Castle, IN, Troy Hickman was an All-Star… at everything! From the trophies he collected as a child racing motorcycles, to setting county high jump & basketball scoring records as a high school student, to helping invent and being granted a U.S. Patent while a dedicated, 22-year employee at Hitachi Cable Automotive in New Albany, IN. Even more impressive is the way Troy raised his children – to never take what they have for granted, see the value in everything, face setbacks, and enjoy life. Troy constantly emphasized spending quality time and having fun together as a family, and he lead by example. He took pride in EVERYTHING he did, and was known for treating everyone with respect and kindness. Troy enjoyed the beauty of being outdoors every day - well, every day the temperature was above 35 degrees! He loved to grill, even if he had to wade through a foot of snow! Troy took his family on adventures from hiking and rock climbing, to deep sea fishing, to zip lining, to skiing and snowboarding to SWIMMING WITH WHALE SHARKS IN MEXICO – this list goes on and on! Additionally he was an ideal husband and son, who was one heck of a storyteller and always the “one” his entire family wanted to be around. Troy never stopped putting effort into the relationships important to him; on August 15, 2018, he continued to protect his family as he passed away heroically while surrounded by loved ones. Troy’s family and friends will hold him forever in their hearts. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Kristina; children, Isaiah, Allison, and Analiese; parents, Steve & Donna Hickman (Lewisville, IN), and Ed & Judy Melton (Jeffersonville, IN); siblings, Lisa & Darrin Lause (Fishers, IN), and Kevin & Tina Melton (Nashville, TN); nieces Katie & Carrie Lause; nephews Jordan, Blake, and Trevor Melton; and several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Memorial visitation will be Friday, August 17, from 11am until 5pm at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd., New Albany, IN. His funeral service will be held immediately following.
