Valasdine "Val" Wheeler,79, of Elizabeth, Indiana passed away on June 15, 2026. He was born on November 21, 1946, in Columbia, Kentucky the late John and Marie Wilson Wheeler. He was a member of House of God. Val was a veteran in the United States Army and was retired from Wayne Crane. He was an avid reader and researcher.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin sister, Ernestine Gallenstein; sister, Jennett Brown and a brother, Robert Lee Wheeler.
Val is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Linda M. Wheeler; children, Kimberly Short (Shawn) and Scott Fraze (Rachel); grandchildren, Destiny, Bryson, Brianna, Kiersten and Nathan; sister-in-law, Marilyn Pumphrey; nephews, Paul Pumphrey and Craig Pumphrey; and a niece, Sabrina Pumphrey; great nieces and nephews, Kyra Godinez (Austin), Xander Pumphrey (Sarah), Kaden Pumphrey, Alyssa Pumphrey, Hannah Decker (Brent), Brinley Deatrick (Kenny) and Macy Kauffman; and great great nieces and nephews, Grayson, Oliver, Eliana, Henry, Harlow, Declan and Waylon.
Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, Indiana 47150, on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 19, 2026.
