William E. "Bill" Mayfield

William E. “Bill” Mayfield, 81 years of age died Saturday, June 27, 2015 surrounded by family and friends at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. He was born April 7, 1934 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Roscoe and Martha Irene Mix Mayfield. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and was the former owner\operator of Mayfield Construction, and retired from Gohmann Asphalt and Construction. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lanesville and Laborers Local 576 in Louisville. Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Lucy Stewart, Doris Taylor, Martha “Loraine” Richert, Roscoe Mayfield, Jr., Lawrence Mayfield, and Janet Mayfield.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Grace Hall Mayfield; children, George “Danny” Mayfield (Becky), William “Billy” Mayfield (Teri), Rena Mayfield Phillips (Jeff), Dennis Mayfield (Sondra), Terry Mayfield (Angie), Janet Mayfield Philpot (Jerry), Martha “Marty” Mayfield McRae (David), Thelda Mayfield Smith (Allan); brother, George Mayfield (Evelyn); sister, Pauline Chaffin; 24 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren

Visitation will be 5:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm Monday and 11:00 am ~ 8:00 pm Tuesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2500 St. Mary’s Drive, Lanesville, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mass on the Air or Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
