William L. Knasel Sr.

William L. Knasel Sr., 93, of Georgetown, Indiana passed away February 21, 2026, at Wedgewood Healthcare. He was born on August 1, 1932, in New Albany, Indiana to the late Wayne and Emma Stinson Knasel. He was retired from the United States Air Force, Jeff Boat and ICI.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Knasel Jr. and Donald Knasel; a sister, Doris Wells; a grandson, Michael Knasel; and a granddaughter, Clarrissa Hardesty.

Bill is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley Knasel; three children, William Knasel Jr., Cathy Hardesty (Don) and Carl Knasel (Cindy); siblings, Jeanette Humphrey, Joann Johnson and Peggy Roberts; nine grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was devoted family man and loving husband.

Visitation will be held at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana, 47150, on February 27, 2026, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Funeral service will take place at the same location on February 28, 2026, starting at 11:00 am.
